ABOUT SOUTH AFRICA
It was quite a day. I don't know what you can say about a day when you see four beautiful sunsets. . . . This is a little unusual, I think.
John Glen, in 'American Chronicle,' Lois and Alan Gordon, 1962.

South Africa is a land of rich cultures, friendly people, magnificent vistas and endless adventure.
A holiday in South Africa is a memorable experience. The difficulty is in choosing what to do and where to go ...
From game safaris to beach holidays, cultural vacations to hard and soft adventure ... South Africa has it all. It is home to some of the most remarkable heritage sites in the world, and some of the best wines. You can choose to go whale watching or shark caging, bunjy jumping or cave diving. All this while staying in a world class hotel and enjoying excellent food, wines and service.
Known as the Republic of South Africa, the country is bordered by the Atlantic and Indian Oceans and Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland, and Lesotho. It is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations and its economy is the largest in Africa and 24th largest in the world. It is the most socially, economically and infrastructurally developed country in Africa.
South Africa has recovered from a somewhat turbulent history and the first democratic elections in 1994 saw the official end of the policy of "apartheid" or segregation.
Today it is often called the "Rainbow Nation", a term coined by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and later adopted by then President Nelson Mandela to describe the country's newly developing multicultural diversity.
