ARCHEOLOGY SAFARIS

Flying was a very tangible freedom. In those days, it was beauty, adventure, discovery - the epitome of breaking into new worlds.

Anne Morrow Lindbergh, introduction to 'Hour of Gold, Hour of Lead,' 1929.

"A long, long time ago, we, the Bushmen, roamed these mountains, masters of the unpredictable ways of nature. … All we left behind was our story painted in the rock, in the shelters, the story of sacred animals and our journeys to the spirit world."

South Africa is steeped in history, some of which has been recorded by the fascinating rock art of the Bushmen, or San as they are known today. The country is also home to numerous internationally celebrated archaeological discoveries, including the famous "Mrs Ples", a four-million year old ape-like human skeleton.

Our Archaeological Air Safaris offer a unique way to discover history and experience heritage sites in a land with an exciting and colourful past. We will fly you to both the well-known sites of interest including Cradle of Humankind - a World Heritage Site where excavations still continue - and lesser known sites on private farms where you will have the opportunity to explore original San rock art while you enjoy the natural beauty of our country.
